Teens in cars

Published by laydecker at 9:20 am under Parenting, Uncategorized Edit This

My daughter as I’ve said many times before is 16, driving age. She has not gotten her permit or her license yet and quite frankly I couldn’t be happier. See there is a growing epidemic here where I live of kids getting hurt because they are speeding around like maniacs. I’m not talking about going forty in a twenty five I’m talking about going eighty in a twenty five. I knew kids/people have sped around for ages when they are drunk apparently not knowing how fast they are really going or not caring but these are level headed, sober kids driving as fast as they can trying to get some kind of rush. My daughter was in one of these cars about a year ago and it wrecked, flipping several times before landing gashing the side of her face. The kids were all lucky, there were five and the driver in a little sports car, with my daughter taking the brunt of it. That was the worst phone call I ever got. My daughter’s voice telling me “mom I’ve been in an accident.” The only way it could have been worse is if it were a cop calling me telling me she was hurt or worse yet killed because a bunch of kids had to race around like idiots just to have a cheap thrill. My daughter will pay for this little prank probably for the rest of her life with her scars on her face and the fear of semi trucks ( that’s what they hit before flipping) which makes her cry every time she is near one. I just wish that her story would be enough to stop other kids from doing the same, though I know better. She isn’t the first kid in a similar car accident and many fair far worse but if there are parents reading this or kids who were just curious about this blog I hope you talk about this. It’s as bad as any drug or drinking that could come along because this too could kill your child.
