Kids watching the news
There are people who are complaining Always about the violence in movies and T.V. shows but there is just as much on the news. We see images of flood victims, tornado victims, suicide bomb victims, war victims, victims, victims, victims… They show shattered homes, shattered lives, shattered dreams. They show sadness, devistaion, and poverty. They show destruction and death, and our kids are seeing it all! My kids are so numb to these things. I can’t help but wonder if the kids of today are going to be uncaring and unsympathetic when they grow up. They are so accustomed to these things will they will just stop caring? Maybe we should have ratings, PG, PG 13, and R for the news as well. Maybe we need more stories promoting courage, strength, love, and triumph. We need to send our kids the message that there is still hope in the world. I don’t want my kids thinking “what’s the point?” as they get older. Right now my children still show hope and the desire to be a positive influence in the world as they volunteer in the community. I just pray that they stay that way. I also wish there were more kids who would do similar things. It would be wonderful if each child knew how incredible it feels to give and have some hope. Seeing the good in other people is good for the heart and soul. I just want the kids to have a chance at happiness and how can they have that if they have no hope? What are your thoughts?
