AM Mad today!!!

Today my post is going to be a little more on the gruff side than usual, I take that back.. I am pissed today!! My daughter came home from school yesterday and right away I could tell something was wrong. When I asked her at first she put up a strong front and said nothing. When I asked her again she burst into tears and said this girl, we will call her Faith, was what was wrong. I asked her to explain and she began by saying that the morning started out with “Faith” smacking my daughter across the face. WHAT???????? I was and am furious. I calmly asked my daughter if she told the teacher my daughter was getting more upset by the second, she said that the teacher asked “Faith” what happened and she answered nothing and the teacher did nothing else. WTF???? So I am freaking mad at this point ready to rip someone a new a@@hole and I grabbed my phone and called the school. I proceeded to leave a message saying what I was told and that I wanted a call back immediately. It was four hours later that I got a call. Is this how the school handles these kinds of things? I spoke to the principal who simply said “I don’t know what to say, that isn’t supposed to happen here” well I sure as hell hope it’s not supposed to happen here!! This is called a no tolerance school well if a teacher is not investigating when a child says she was slapped across the face (with a visible hand print no less) then how pray tell is it no tolerance? I am sooooooo angry!! I didn’t send my daughter to school today and do not intend to until the school handles this appropriately. I’m not going to have some child picking on my daughter. So you tell me what would you do?

    Hi Jenn,
Buzzed you. Boy, this is a tough one. The thing is people really have a misconception about school districts. I used to work as an administraive assistant in a school district office (I hated it, but that’s another story). The thing is, I sure learned how things in a school district are not done any different than in a bit corporation. I certainly cannot say what will happen or what is going on in your situation, but I do know that from what I saw they tend to cover their “arsses” all of the time. If the teacher was in the wrong they will probably just hope that this blows over by itself.
However, if it is not settled properly, it would seem to me that this girl would think she could get away with such actions again and since it worked the first time for her, she may start bullying your daughter. I think you are doing the right thing for now, but I don’t think you can let up on a “real” resolution to this situation.
    Karen
