Cookie Cutter Ornaments

Published by laydecker under Uncategorized Edit This

Ok there are two parts to this… thanks to imagitek.com. First of all we need to make the dough.. there are two kinds and you can choose which you prefer better. The first is the Salt Dough Recipe.

You will need: 2 cups flour, 2 cups salt and approximately 1 cup of water.

1. Mix water, salt, and flour until a thick dough is formed

2. Knead mixture for about ten minutes to dissolve salt

3. Clay is ready

Now that the clay is ready you have to start with the second step.

You will need your clay that you just made ( other recipe will be at the end of the page)

Christmas cookie cutters

Colored felt tip permanant markers

Glitter

Sequine

White glue

Ribbon

Directions are as follows:

1. Roll out dough on a flat surface until dough is about 1/4 inch thick

2. Cut with cookie cutters to make Christmas shapes

3. Make a hole in the top for stringing the ribbon

4. Place shapes on a cookie sheet

5. Bake shapes at 225 degrees Farenheit for two or three hours

6. Turn them over once in awhile to keep them from curling in on themselves

7. Pull out of oven and let cool for several hours

8. Use the felt tip pens, the sequine, glue, and anything other items for decorating the shapes.

9. String with the ribbon at the top to be able to hang your ornaments.

This is something perfect to commemorate each year of your child. It’s like having babies first Christmas ornaments only for the older ages. You can write the year and or age on the back to preserve the memory.

The other dough recipe is the one I prefer. It’s the Corn Starch Dough Recipe :

2 cups cornstarch

2 cups baking soda

1 and 1/4 cups of water

Directions:

In a sauce pan combine cornstarch and baking soda. Slowly add water stiring. Mix until the dough reaches a mashed potatoe consistancy. Flip over onto a plate and cover with a towel. Knead when it cools and now it’s ready for you to cut into your Christmas shapes
